Location
It is located across Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam (also known as The Mall) in Jinnah Town, Lahore, Pakistan. It is an easily accessible area where you can reach without any problem.
History
It was established by an agricultural society of Punjab, Pakistan. It was made as a botanical laboratory for experimental purposes and designed after Kew Gardens, London. It was named Lawrence Gardens because of Sir John Lawrence who was Chief Commissioner and Deputy Governor of the Punjab. It served as a relaxation ground for first-class British people. Later, Lawrence Hall named after Sir John Lawrence) and Montgomery Hall (named after Sir Robert Montgomery another Deputy Governor of the Punjab) were built in 1862 and 1866 respectively. In 1984, they linked and named as Quaid-e-Azam Library. The named was changed from Lawrence Gardens to Bagh-e-Jinnah in honor of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Diversity
- Plants: There are almost 150 types of trees, 140 varieties of shrubs, 30 types of palm trees, 50 different types of creepers and 100 different succulent plants.
- Flowers: The park grows different varieties of flowers including roses, jasmine and other seasonal flowers on a large scale. Chrysanthemums are also cultivated on a large area.
- Species: They planted different species from Australia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, and China.
Library
Quaid-e-Azam Library was established by combining Lawrence Hall and Montgomery Hall and was officially launched as the Quaid-e-Azam Library on December 25, 1984. The library features a white-painted, exterior with grand arches and has total space over 70,000 square feet. The library has over 140,000 book collections in different languages and subjects. Library does not allow to take books home. The library provides a free computer lab with internet access, and research resources for library members. It is a membership library and have special rooms for students.
Cricket Ground
Gymkhana Cricket Ground is the oldest cricket ground in Pakistan. In January 1955, the ground became the 35th test area and many historic matches were tested here like test match against India. As this ground has lost it’s importance as test match ground, many local matches, tournaments and practice matches held here. It is still a site to feel the arrival of cricket.
Children Park

Entry in Bagh-e-Jinnah Lahore is completely free to all locals and tourists. Parking area also allow parking your vehicle without charges. But entering the Quaid-e-Azam library is free to its members and students and you cannot walk freely without strict rules. Cosmopolitan club is also limited to its members.
